Rotherham house fire started in microwave

Firefighters from Rotherham, Parkway and Aston Park attended a fire at a house on Rother Road last night (Wednesday 13 February).

Upon arrival, after being called at 7.08pm, they found the ground floor of the property was smoke logged.

They immediately gained entry to the property and breathing apparatus wearers discovered the fire in the kitchen.

After extinguishing the blaze, which had started in a microwave whilst the occupier was out, they cleared the property of smoke using a positive pressure ventilation fan.

Nobody was injured in the incident and crews left around 8pm.
