Round up of overnight incidents from 5 November

Firefighters dealt with an incident involving a firework which had been put through a letter box on Manor Park Close in Sheffield last night at around 7.20pm. The fire was out on arrival.

Doncaster’s crew spent 90 minutes putting out a blaze involving three skips full of tyres on Doncaster Road, Kirk Sandall at 7.30pm. The fire was started deliberately.

A man burning large amounts of rubbish- including mattresses and a fridge- had his bonfire extinguished by Rivelin and Central firefighters. The bonfire was out on control, with crews called to the incident at around 7.30pm.

Elm Lane firefighters attended a car fire on Nether Shire Lane in Sheffield just before 8.30pm. It was a Saab, the fire was out on arrival and it was started deliberately.

Firefighters came under attack on Wensley Street, Sheffield whilst attending a small rubbish fire in some woods at around 8.30pm. Police were called after the fire engine from Central fire station had been pelted with eggs and fireworks.

Bales of straw were set alight in a field close to Maltby Sports Centre on Braithwell Road at about 9.20pm. Maltby firefghters spent 15 minutes tackling the blaze.

There was a small rubbish fire in some bushes next to the KFC on Canklow Road in Rotherham. Rotherham firefighters quickly extinguished the fire at around 11.15pm.

Crews dealt with car fires on Reney Avenue, Sheffield, Carrill Road, Sheffield and Flat Lane, Billingley at 11.38pm, 00.41am and 4.56am respectively. All were started deliberately.

A charity clothing bin- for the Salvation Army-was set alight on Bow Street in Cudworth. Barnsley firefighters dealt with the incident shortly before 1am. It’s thought it was caused by a firework posted through the bin.

Parkway firefighters also attended an incident at the A57 fencing company on Retford Road, Woodhouse Mill. A large pile of tree stumps and roots around 10 metres by 15 metres was alight at around 00.40am.. It’s not known if the blaze was caused by heat caused by composting or a stray firework.
