Fire crews were called to a large fire in a scrap yard at 5:50pm on Wednesday afternoon.

At the height of the fire there were eight fire engines at the incident on Boulder Bridge Lane in Royston, Barnsley.

Firefighters have been at the scene overnight tackling the blaze which involves a crane and two trailers.

Crews remain at the scene this morning (Thursday 30 May) with the fire now under control.

While there is still smoke in the area local residents are advised to keep their doors and windows closed.

An investigation into the cause of the fire will take place once it is completely out.
