Fire crews were called out to a kitchen fire at a property on Wharncliffe Street in Hexthorpe, Doncaster just after 10pm on Wednesday night.
The fire started at a toaster which then spread to a teatowel and clothes left on the worksurface. A woman and teenage girl were able to quickly get out of the property but were suffering from slight smoke inhalation.
Firefighters from Doncaster and Edlington stations used a hose reel to put the fire out and then used fans to clear the smoke.
The two casualties were checked over at the scene by ambulance crews but didn’t go to hospital.
Fire and Emergency Support Services (FESS) from the Red Cross also attended the incident to offer support and advice to the occupants.
Fire crews left the scene at 10:50pm.
