Weekend incidents – 19/20/21 November

Friday 19 November

Firefighters from Cudworth were called to Pontefract Road, Lundwood, at 11.36pm. Upon arrival they found a car and motorhome on fire on a driveway. This was dealt with by 0.09am and is thought to have been started deliberately.

Saturday 20 November

Firefighters from Dearne were called to Don View Road, Mexborough, at 1.32pm. Upon arrival they found a chimney fire. This was dealt with from above using a roof ladder. The fire was out by 3.34pm and the occupiers were advised not to use the fire again until they’d had the chimney swept.

Firefighters from Elm Lane and Parkway were called to Droppingwell Road, Kimberworth, at 4.24pm. Upon arrival they found a caravan fully involved in fire. This was dealt with by 5.11pm and is thought to have been started deliberately.

Firefighters from Doncaster, Adwick and Edlington were called to Stocksbridge Lane, Owston, Doncaster, at 6.16pm. Upon arrival they found a barn well alight. Crews ensured all animals were safe before extinguishing the fire. This was dealt with by 8.44pm.

Firefighters from Central, Rivelin, Parkway and Lowedges were scrambled to a flat on Wellington Street, Sheffield. Upon arrival they found what looked to have been a fire in a kitchen extractor hood. It’s believed that this started through an electrical fault. Nobody was hurt and crews left the scene at 8.32pm.

Firefighters from Parkway, Central and Aston Park were called to Hill Top Crescent, Sheffield, at 8.05pm. Upon arrival they found a heavily smoke logged flat with a man inside. He was helped out by crews before they went into the flat and found the source of the smoke – a pan left on the hob. A number of older residents in the area, including the occupier, were given treatment for smoke inhalation, before crews left the scene at 9.54pm.

Sunday 21 November

Firefighters from Rotherham were called to Queen Street, Rawmarsh, at 1.10pm. Upon arrival they found a Fiat Chiquento well alight. This was dealt with by 1.58pm and is thought to have been started deliberately.
