Weekend incidents – 24 to 26 July

Friday 24 July

Firefighters from Aston Park were called to West Lane, Aughton, at 9.03pm. Upon arrival they found an abandoned Vauxhall Vectra well alight. This was dealt with by 9.30pm and is thought to have been started deliberately.

Saturday 25 July

Firefighters from Central were called to Lancing Road, Sheffield, at 2.44am. Upon arrival they found an Audi A3 well alight – with the fire appearing to have started on the drivers seat. This was dealt with by 3.22am and is thought to have been started deliberately.

Firefighters from Dearne were called to Wentworth Road, Rawmarsh, at 1.12pm. Upon arrival they found around 30 bales of hay on fire. This was dealt with by 4pm, with crews spending almost three hours dragging apart the bales to get the fire out. This is thought to have been started deliberately.

Firefighters from Cudworth were called to Queens Road, Barnsley, at 8.08pm. Upon arrival they found several car park barriers and surrounding bushes on fire outside the Metrodome. This is thought to have been started deliberately and was dealt with by 8.37pm.

Firefighters from Edlington and Rotherham were called to Knaresborough Road, Conisborough, at 10.03pm. Upon arrival they found a garden shed well alight, with the fire having also spread to a neighbouring garage roof. This is thought to have started accidentally, in the shed, and was dealt with by 10.49pm. There were no injuries.

Sunday 26 July

Firefighters from Elm Lane were called to Edge Lane, Sheffield, at 0.51am. Upon arrival they found a white Vauxhall Astra van well alight. This was dealt with by 1.14am and is thought to have been started deliberately.

Firefighters from Parkway were called to Motehall Road, Sheffield, at 4.05am. Upon arrival they found a car well alight on a residential street. This was dealt with by 4.29am and is thought to have been started deliberately.
