Weekend incidents 9/11 July

Friday:

On Friday at 06:50pm, crews were called to a small vehicle fire on Dyke Vale Road. One crew from Birley Moor attended. Crews left the scene at 07:05pm and deemed the fire to have been started deliberately.

Also on Friday, crews from Maltby, Parkway and Aston Park were called to a fire on Mangham Road in Parkgate, Rotherham. On arrival smoke could be seen coming from large recycling building. Crews were on scene until 09:15pm and deemed the fire to have started accidentally.

At 09:13pm firefighters were called to a small vehicle fire on Meadowbank Close on Meadowbank in Rotherham. One car was found well alight. Crews from Parkway were in attendance and left the scene at 09:50pm. The fire had been started deliberately.

Saturday

In the early hours of Saturday morning, at 00:51am, firefighters were called to a small vehicle fire on Piper Road in Sheffield. One crew from Elm Lane were in attendance and were on scene until 01:09pm. They deemed the fire to have been started deliberately.

At 06:06am on Saturday morning, crews were called to a fire in the bathroom of a property on Robey Street in Sheffield. This was a two-storey mid-terraced property. Fortunately, nobody was injured in the fire. Crews left the scene at 08:00am and deemed the fire to have started accidentally as a result of the use of smoking materials.

At 03:03pm on Saturday, firefighters were called to a derelict building fire on Doncaster Road in Dalton. Crews from Rotherham and Maltby attended. Firefighters found two areas of fire spreading into the roof space. They left the scene at 03:50pm and deemed the fire to have been started deliberately.

Firefighters from Doncaster were called to a house fire on Bretby Close in Cantley, Doncaster at 03:51pm Saturday. The occupiers had left the house, leaving some cooked chicken on a tray on top of the electric hob. The fire had been caused by some food and paper towels that had been left on the hob, which had also been left on. Luckily smoke alarms alerted a neighbour to the fire as the occupants were out at the time. A dog was also safely led out of the property. Crews left at 04:27pm and said the fire had started accidentally.

Crews were called to another derelict building fire on Saturday, this time on Laudsdale Road in East Herringthorpe. The fire was a small amount of wall insulation on the first floor landing of the property. Crews left 06:17pm and said the fire had been started deliberately.

On the evening of Saturday night at 08:02pm, firefighters from Adwick and Edlington were called to a derelict house fire on Doncaster Road in Askern. It was a small amount of rubbish burning inside open sided derelict building. They left the scene at 08:48pm and deemed the fire to have been started deliberately.

Late Saturday night at 11:44pm, crews were called to a fire on St Aidan’s Way in Sheffield. This was a catering van involved in the fire which had spread to an adjacent property.  Firefighters from Central and Parkway left the scene at 00:41am and deemed the fire to be deliberate.

Sunday

At 00:15am on Sunday morning, firefighters were called to a fire on Ericton Lund Lane in Lundwood, Barnsley. This was a citronella oil lamp that had fallen/been knocked over and had fallen onto rattan furniture and on the porch area of the summerhouse. Crews left the scene at 01:26am. Luckily no one was injured in the fire.

Firefighters were called to a small car fire on Chatsworth Park Avenue in Sheffield at 12:04pm on Sunday afternoon. One crew from Birley attended and deemed the fire to have started accidentally as a result of engine oil leaking on to hot engine parts. They left the scene at 12:30pm.
