A woman has sadly died following a house fire in Sheffield.

Firefighters from Central, Rivelin and Lowedges were called to the incident on Grindlow Close, Sheffield, at around 8am this morning (Tuesday 3 March).

Upon arrival they found a two-storey house well alight. Breathing apparatus wearers entered the property but, despite their best efforts, the casualty was pronounced dead at the scene.

The cause of the fire is currently under investigation and our thoughts are very much with the woman’s family and friends.

The thorough investigation into the cause of this fire is now complete.

It is believed that it started accidentally, in the living room, and involved smoking materials.
