Equality & Inclusion at SYFR

South Yorkshire Fire & Rescue is committed to providing equality in all aspects of its work and in the services it delivers to the communities of South Yorkshire.

We work to promote equality in relation to all protected characteristics in line with the Equality Act 2010, to promote human rights within the Service and to develop cohesive communities across South Yorkshire. Above all, we strive for a service that is equal, fair, respectful, and reflects the diversity of the community it serves. We aim to create a working environment that is safe and secure and where employees can feel valued for being individual.

Equality & Inclusion work covers all aspects of SYFR operations and, in particular, we aim to promote equality in the ways that we offer jobs and deliver services to communities, the way we organise resources to prioritise the needs of groups at most risk of fire and other emergencies, and in how we engage and involve staff, services users and communities in developing responsive services.
