Barnsley salon fire started deliberately

An investigation into the cause of a fire, at a hair salon in Barnsley, found that it was started deliberately.

Crews from Dearne, Adwick and Edlington were called at 4.29am, on Sunday 24 February, to Barnsley Road, Goldthorpe, after reports of a building fire.

Upon arrival they found a fire in an extractor van unit on the outside of the building. A hose reel was used initially before firefighters entered the salon to see if the fire had spread internally.

The incident had been dealt with by 5.33am, with a fire investigator later attending the site to establish the cause of fire.
