Firefighters from Elm Lane, Rivelin and Central stations were called to reports of a flat fire on Lytton Drive in Sheffield at 8pm on Monday evening.

When crews arrived, a man with mobility issues was still inside the ground floor flat. Firefighters wearing breathing apparatus entered the flat and located the man and rescued him.

The man was attended to by paramedics at the scene before going to hospital.

Firefighters used hose reels to put the fire out.

An investigation is now taking place to determine the cause of the fire.
