Crews tackle fire at old Rotherham college building

Firefighters from Rotherham and Maltby fire stations were called to a fire at a derelict building in Rotherham Town Centre at 9.41pm yesterday (Thursday 16 May).

Upon arrival they found smoke issuing from the ground floor of the former College of Arts and Technology.

Breathing apparatus wearers entered the building and extinguished the fire – which it is believed was started deliberately.

The fire was out by 10.23pm, after crews searched the ground and first floors to ensure nobody was inside.
