A working smoke alarm gave a family in Armthorpe an early warning that a fire was developing in their kitchen.
Firefighters from Doncaster and Edlington were called to a property on Regent Avenue, Armthorpe, at 9.14pm on Friday night (10 May).
Upon arrival they found the kitchen was heavily smoke logged. Breathing apparatus extinguished the fire, before using positive pressure ventilation to clear the smoke.
Nobody was injured in the fire, which is believed to have started accidentally due to some portable lights being on charge in the kitchen.
Crews left the scene, after dealing with the incident, just before 10pm.
