Firefighters tackle large recycling fire

Update at 8am

Fire crews remain at the scene of the recycling fire in Darnall.  The fire is now under control, however, crews will stay at the scene for most of today damping down.


 

Five fire engines are currently at a large recycling factory on Clement Street in the Darnall area of Sheffield.

Fire crews from Parkway, Central, Elm Lane, Rivelin and Birley Station were called at 9:20pm on Thursday evening.

A large pile of recycling is on fire, crews are using hose reels to tackle the blaze.

There is a lot of smoke in the area and firefighters are advising people to keep their doors and windows closed.

An investigation into the cause of the fire will take place once it is out.
