Firefighters have attended two chip pan fires overnight.
The first was at 10:30pm on Tuesday evening on Duncombe Street in Sheffield. Three fire engines attended the incident, one man in his 40’s suffered smoke inhalation and was taken to hospital as a precaution.
The second incident was at 11:45pm on St Catherine’s Avenue in Balby, Doncaster. This was a mid terrace house and three fire crews were called to the scene. A man in his 50’s was given oxygen at the scene but didn’t go to hospital.
Firefighters are asking people to take extra care while cooking:
- Don’t leave pans unattended when cooking and remember to take them off the hob if you have to leave the room.
- Take extra care at night, it’s easy to be careless when you’re tired or if you’ve been drinking.
- Always keep the oven, hob and grill clean, a build-up of fat and grease can easily catch fire.
