Firefighters tackle Sheffield house fire

Crews from Central and Parkway dealt with a house fire on Manor Park Crescent, Sheffield, earlier today (Friday 9 November) – which is believed to have been started deliberately.

Firefighters were called at 2.58am and upon arrival found the house well alight. Breathing apparatus wearers searched the property and confirmed there was nobody inside, before extinguishing the fire and clearing the remaining smoke.

Nobody was injured as part of the incident and an investigation into the cause of fire continues this morning.

Arson damages property, ties up fire service resources and can endager life. Help stamp it out by:

  • Reporting suspicious activity to South Yorkshire Police on 101, or Crimstoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
  • Taking bins out early in the morning of collection, rather than the night before, and bringing them back in as soon as possible.
  • Speaking to your kids about the potential consequences of deliberate fire-setting.
