Firefighters tackle Wombwell industrial estate blaze

Four fire engines and a turntable ladder were called to a fire at the Valley Road Industrial Estate in Wombwell yesterday (Tuesday 21 May).

The blaze started in a portacabin before spreading to a number of vehicles and then began to spread to the adjacent warehouse.

Firefighters were called around 6.10pm and various crews worked together to stop the spread and ensure the main building, inside, was unaffected.

Nobody was injured in the incident and the fire was out by 10.15pm. A fire investigation is taking place this morning.

The service was assisted by a number of different agencies during the course of the incident – including the water and electricity boards, the Environment Agency and other blue light partners.
