Overnight incidents – 13/14 May

Firefighters from Doncaster and Edlington were called to Exchange Street, Hyde Park, at 7.40pm. Upon arrival they found a confirmed kitchen fire in a top floor flat. Breathing apparatus wearers entered the building and quickly extinguished the fire – which is thought to have started when the occupant left a pressure cooker running whilst they went out. This fire caused smoke logging to the whole flat and was dealt with by 8.21pm.

Firefighters from Rivelin were called to Winn Drive, Sheffield. Upon arrival they found a pile of rubbish on fire in a communal stairwell. This was dealt with by 8.19pm and is thought to have been started deliberately.

Firefighters from Cudworth and Barnsley were called to Highfield Avenue, Athersley, at 10.17pm. Upon arrival they found a bin fire had spread to a shed, surrounding fences and the windows and guttering of two properties. This was dealt with by 11.54pm. A fire investigation ruled that the likely cause of this fire was ashes, from a burning bin, being put into a domestic wheelie bin. It is understood these ashes had been in the burning bin, cooling, for several days.

Firefighters from Barnsley were called to Monkspring, Worsbrough Dale, at 11.16pm. Upon arrival they found a Ford Focus well alight. This is thought to have been started deliberately and was dealt with by 11.48pm.

Firefighters from Rotherham were called to Clifton Lane, Clifton, at 0.30am. Upon arrival they found a street bin on fire. This was dealt with by 0.49am and is thought to have been started deliberately.

Firefighters from Rotherham were called to Scrooby Street, Greasbrough, at 0.48am. Upon arrival they found a large shed, on an allotment, ablaze. This was dealt with by 2.12am and is thought to have started accidentally through heating equipment that was inside.

Firefighters from Rotherham were called to Canklow Road, Canklow, at 0.57am. Upon arrival they found a rubbish fire. This was dealt with by 1.25am and is thought to have been started deliberately.

Firefighters from Central were called to Oxford Street, Sheffield, at 2.58am. Upon arrival they found a Toyota Avensis well alight. This was dealt with by 3.37am and is thought to have been started deliberately.

Firefighters from Rivelin were called to Low Matlock Lane, Sheffield, at 4.15am. Upon arrival they found a Yamaha XJR motorbike on fire. This was dealt with by 4.34am and is thought to have been started deliberately.
