Recycling warehouse fire in Rotherham

Fire update 1pm

The investigation into the cause of the fire at the warehouse in Kilnhurst has now taken place.

It was accidental due to a battery catching fire.


Fire update 12:10pm

The fire at the recycling warehouse in Kilnhurst, Rotherham is now out.

Two fire crews remain at the scene damping down.

This was a multi agency response including Police, Environment Agency and Utilities attending.

A fire investigation will now take place to determine the cause.

 


Six  fire crews are at a warehouse fire in Kilnhurst, Rotherham.

Firefighters were called to the recycling building on Wharf Road just after 9:30am on Sunday morning.

Machinery and equipment within the building is involved in the blaze.

Thanks to the quick actions of the Incident Commander and the crews the fire is now under control.

Wharf Road is closed at the moment while fire engines remain at the scene.

A full investigation into the cause of the fire will take place once it is completely out.
