A row of terraced houses suffered fire damage after rubbish in a back yard caught fire and spread to the properties.
Firefighters from Dearne were called to the incident, on Summer Lane, Wombwell, at 11.25pm on Thursday and found fire had taken hold in a large amount of stored rubbish. A garden shed was completely destroyed and a row of terraced houses suffered damage including windows broken by the intensity of the blaze, and melted doors and guttering.
An investigation found the fire had probably been started deliberately.
Firefighters regularly warn of the dangers which can be posed by large amounts of rubbish. Refuse material should always be kept well away from property in case of fire spread in incidents such as this.
