Smoke alarm alerts crews to kitchen fire

Two fire engines from Rotherham were called to a fire at a home on Langdon Walk in Rotherham at 5:42pm on Sunday evening.

When crews arrived they found a small fire in the kitchen of the property which had resulted in smoke logging. A male in his 90’s had fallen whilst using the cooker and the fire had started accidentally as a result of hot cooking oil.

Luckily, the property had a smoke alarm installed which raised awareness to the fire.

Firefighters used Positive Pressure Ventilation equipment to clear the smoke.

An ambulance was called to the incident as a precautionary measure.

Crews left the scene at 6:27pm.
