At 7:19pm on Saturday crews from Central, Rivelin and Birley Moor attended an incident on Northern Avenue in Sheffield.
Firefighters used breathing apparatus to enter and ventilate the property.
The fire is thought to have occurred accidentally and was most likely the result of a cooker which had been turned on with a grill pan still inside. The fire developed due to a build up of grease and fat inside the oven.
Post incident, South Yorkshire Fire & Rescue fitted two new smoke alarms to replace the old ones already in the house.
Crews left the scene at 8:02pm.
