Weekend incidents 23 to 25 October 2020

A van was set alight on Hall Balk Lane, Loversall at around 10.45pm on Friday (23 October). Edlington firefighters dealt with the fire.

Firefighters ventilated a property on Haldane Close, Brierley at around 9.30am on Saturday after cooking had caught fire on the hob. An older man was inside at the time, but was not hurt.

A car was set alight on Heysham Green, Monk Bretton at around 8.45pm on Saturday. Cudworth firefighters dealt with the incident.

A BMW was set alight on Constable Lane, Dinnington at around 2am on Sunday. Aston Park firefighters responded to the deliberate blaze.

A faulty tumble dryer caused tea towels to ignite at a property on Springwood Road, Hoyland at around 5.30am on Sunday. Tankersley, Dearne and Elm Lane firefighters used a hose reel to put out the fire. They then removed it from the property and used specialist fans to ventilate. The occupier was at home at the time, but was not hurt.

Firefighters gave oxygen to a woman in her 90s who suffered slight smoke inhalation at a property on Blackwell Court, Sheffield at around 12.30pm on Sunday. A potato had overheated in a faulty microwave, which had stuck in the ‘on’ position. Firefighters from Central fire station ventilated the property and the woman was taken to hospital for a precautionary check up.
