Woman rescued from house fire

A woman has been rescued by firefighters after a fire broke out at her home on Park Road in Worsbrough, Barnsley.

Three fire crews from Barnsley, Tankersley and Cudworth stations were called to the incident just before 2am on Saturday morning.

When crews arrived, they found the fire contained in a downstairs living room, however the end terraced house was fully smoke logged.

A man had safely climbed out onto a flat roof of the property, but a woman was trapped inside.  Firefighters wearing breathing apparatus entered the house and found the woman unconcious in a bedroom.  Firefighters carried her outside and administered first aid, bringing her round.

The lady was taken by ambulance to hospital.

The fire crews used hose reels to put the fire out.

An investigation into the cause of the fire is ongoing.
