Fire crews from Dearne and Edlington stations were called to a bin fire on Arnold Crescent in Mexborough at 7:30pm on Monday evening.

On arrival firefighters found the fire had spread to a semi-detached house.  No one was inside at the time however firefighters did safely rescue a dog from the property.

Fire crews used hose reels to put the fire out, before leaving the incident at 8:35 pm.

An investigation into the cause of the fire will now take place.
