Firefighters were called to a garden fire which had been left unattended and had spread to bins and the outside of the house on Friday night.
The occupiers had been burning rubbish in a brazier earlier in the day and as the fire had died down had assumed it was safe to leave it. A few hours later a passer by noticed the fire which had now spread and rang 999.
A fire engine from Cudworth station attended the incident on Tuxford Crescent in Cundy Cross, Barnsley at 11:20pm.
The fire crew used a hose reel to put the fire out. Luckily no one was hurt during the incident.
There was miner damage to the outside of the property and a gas pipe have been affected.
Firefighters are urging residents not to leave rubbish burning unattended until the fire is completely out.
