At 7pm on Tuesday 21 February, firefighters were called to an incident on Sorrell Lane, Fishlake in Doncaster. On arrival, crews found approximately 16,000 bales of straw well alight.

Thorne and Askern attended the incident with support from neighbouring fire crews from Goole and Snaith stations. Together they have worked tirelessly to bring the fire under control – efforts are still ongoing.

The bales of hay are expected to continue to burn through the night, under close observation from the firefighters in attendance.

It’s thought the fire was started deliberately.
