Firefighters from Barnsley and Cudworth were called to reports of a car fire, on Shaw Lane, Carlton, at around 7.30am today (Tuesday 2 April).

Upon arrival they found a Citroen C3, which was coupled to a recovery truck in a scrapyard, on fire – with the blaze originating from the engine compartment.

Crews extinguished the fire quickly, ensuring it didn’t spread to the recovery vehicle, and had dealt with the incident by 8am.

The fire is understood to have started accidentally. Nobody was injured.
