Occupant has a lucky escape after falling asleep with the chip pan on.

Crews from Elm Lane were called to an incident on Gregg House Road, Sheffield at 21:59 on Saturday night. On arrival, they found that a chip pan had been left unattended as the owner had fallen asleep.

Luckily, the doors and windows were closed which had stopped the fire from fully developing, but this wasn’t enough to save the kitchen from severe fire damage.

We would like to take this opportunity to remind people never to leave food cooking unattended. The outcome for this resident could have been very different!
