A man was forced out of his house by a chip pan fire last night (Thursday 8 August).

Crews from Rivelin and Elm Lane were called at 8.38pm to reports of a house fire on Middlewood Road, Sheffield.

Upon arrival they found the kitchen was well alight.

Nobody was inside the property when firefighters arrived and there were no injuries – as the occupier had self-evacuated upon discovering the fire.

Breathing apparatus wearers entered the property and extinguished the fire, which has totally destroyed the kitchen.

The incident had been dealt with by 10.27pm.
