A man has sadly died after a house fire in Doncaster.

Firefighters from Doncaster and Edlington were called to the scene on Leamington Gardens, Intake, at 1am today (Wednesday 7 October).

The house was completely smoke logged on arrival and, tragically, the body of a man was found inside.

Crews extinguished the fire by 1.30am and a joint police and fire investigation is currently underway into the cause.

At this stage, it is not thought to be suspicious.

The thoughts of all at South Yorkshire Fire & Rescue are with the man’s family and friends at this extremely sad time.
