Don’t cook drunk – that’s the message from firefighters after fire engines from Doncaster were sent to reports of a fire in the early hours of this morning.
Crews were called at 0.19am today (Tuesday 19 February) after neighbours reported hearing a smoke alarm sounding in a North Wheatley flat.
Upon arrival they gained entry to the property after getting a strong smell of smoke from within. Inside they found the occupant asleep and cooking, on an electric hob, left burning.
Nobody was injured in the incident and crews left at 0.48am.
