Sheffield family escape from house fire

A family of six have escaped unharmed after a fire broke out in their home on Askew Court in Stocksbridge, Sheffield.

Firefighters from Stocksbridge, Tankersley and Rivelin stations were called to the incident at 6am on Thursday morning.

The family were already safely outside when the crews arrived.  However, a dog was still inside,  firefighters wearing breathing apparatus entered the sem-detached house and rescued the dog.  The dog was rushed to a vet to be checked over.

An investigation into the cause of the fire will now take place, though it is believed that this is an accidental fire.
