Firefighters from Aston Park and Rotherham green watch were called to an incident at 9:54pm on Sunday on Haworth Bank, Whiston in Rotherham.

On arrival, they found the house was thick with smoke, with the fire located on the ground floor. Using hose reels they were able to tackle the blaze, meanwhile a male and a female were rescued from the property and left in the hands of the ambulance service.

It is thought the fire started accidentally in the fridge/freezer.
