Weekend incidents – 12/13/14 August

Friday 12 August

Firefighters from Elm Lane were called to Firth Park, Sheffield, at 10.13pm. Upon arrival they found a motorbike on fire. This was dealt with by 10.28pm and is thought to have been started deliberately.

Firefighters from Parkway were called to a school on Stradbroke Road, Sheffield. Upon arrival they found a wheelie bin had been set on fire on the street. This was dealt with by 10.45pm and is thought to have been started deliberately.

Saturday 13 August

Firefighters from Doncaster were called to Wellingley Road, Balby, at 6.08am. Upon arrival they found a garden fire had spread to the back of a house. The occupants were alerted by a working smoke alarm, meaning this was dealt with before it spread any further, by 7.43am. One woman was taken to hospital due to smoke inhalation. It is thought the fire started when a discarded cigarette set light to some decking.

Firefighters from Dearne were called to Belle Green Lane, Cudworth, at 1.41pm. Upon arrival they found several allotment sheds, some fencing and trees on fire. This was dealt with by 4.50pm and started when the sun’s rays were intensified by a glass panel in a shed door, before setting fire to the contents inside.

Firefighters from Dearne were called to Netherwood Road, Wombwell, at 4.04pm. Upon arrival they found an area of woodland on fire. This was dealt with by 5.52pm and is thought to have been started deliberately.

Firefighters from Elm Lane and Cudworth were called to Garden Grove, Hemmingfield, at 6.50pm. Upon arrival they found a transit van with a large fire in the back. This was dealt with by 7.13pm and is thought to have started accidentally.

Sunday 14 August

Firefighters from Aston Park were called to Tickhill Road, Maltby, at 5.47pm. Upon arrival they found around 200 square metres of woodland involved in fire. This was dealt with by 8.03pm and is thought to have been started deliberately.
