Weekend incidents – 13 to 15 August

Friday 13 August 

Firefighters from Tankersley were called to Manchester Road, Flouch, at 8.31pm. Upon arrival they found a car well alight. This was dealt with by 9.03pm and is thought to have started accidentally, within the engine compartment.

Firefighters from Cudworth were called to Darfield Road, Cudworth, at 10.08pm. Upon arrival they found a car well alight. This was dealt with by 10.30pm and is thought to have been started deliberately.

Saturday 14 August 

Firefighters from Rotherham and Dearne were called to Burman Road, Watch-upon-Dearne, at 11.27am. Upon arrival they found a road traffic collision involving two cars. Crews undertook a rapid extrication of a woman in her 20s who was suffering from abdominal injuries, before handing her over to the ambulance service. This was dealt with by 12.57pm and nobody else was hurt.

Firefighters from Cudworth and Barnsley were called to Pontefract Road, Cudworth, at 3.16pm. Upon arrival they found a road traffic collision involving two cars that had collided head on. Three passengers had already self-rescued from one of the vehicles, however the driver of the second vehicle was trapped by his injuries. Crews worked with the ambulance service to extricate the individual. This was dealt with by 5.02pm.
