Weekend incidents – 19/20/21 March

On Friday (19 March) crews from Central and Elm Lane were called to a fire on Grimesthorpe Road in Sheffield at around 09:53pm. Firefighters found a smouldering fire within the basement boiler room and as a result smoke had travelled through wall cavities causing smoke logging. Crew left the scene at 11:36pm and deemed the fire to have started accidentally.

Firefighters attended a fire on Royston Lane in Royston at 10:50pm Friday night. This was a car fire which was contained to engine compartment. It was deemed that this fire was due to an electrical fault. Firefighters from Cudworth attended the fire and left at around 11:41pm.

In the early hours of Saturday morning at 01:19am, firefighters attended a small vehicle fire on Lordens Hill in Dinnington, Rotherham. This was one car well alight. Crews left the scene at 02:00am and deemed the fire to have started deliberately.

At 04:59am on Saturday morning, firefighters from Central were called to a fire on Fieldhead Road involving a Toyota Land Cruiser. The fire is believed to have started accidentally in the engine compartment. Firefighters left the scene at 05:36am.

On Saturday at 03:24pm, crews from Barnsley and Cudworth were called to a fire in Shafton, Barnsley. This was a bedroom fire that had started as a result of an air purifier on the bedside cabinet. Crews left the scene at 05:32pm.

At 05:17pm on Saturday evening, firefighters from Dearne and Rotherham were called to a fire on Old Farm Court in Mexborough, Doncaster. This was a small fire in a bungalow under construction with a small amount of rubbish involved. The fire was deemed to have been started deliberately and firefighters left at 06:06pm.

A van was involved in a fire at 02:28am Sunday morning on Deerlands Avenue in Sheffield. Crews from Tankersley left the scene at 03:00am and deemed the fire to have been started deliberately.

At 02:51am Sunday, a VW Polo had been deliberately set alight on Willow Grove in Thorne, Doncaster. Crews from Thorne left the scene at 03:27am.

Crews from central attended a fire on Chippinghouse Road in Sheffield at 03:38am Sunday. This was a blue Mercedes involved, which crews deemed to have been set alight deliberately. Firefighters left at 04:14am.

A Passat had been deliberately set alight on Carr Road in Edlington, Doncaster at 04:01am on Sunday. Crews from Edlington left the scene at 04:33am.

A quad bike was found well alight in Rother Valley Country Park at around 01:54pm Sunday afternoon. Firefighters from Birley Moor were in attendance and left the scene at 02:42pm.
