Friday 22 October

Firefighters from Aston Park were called to West Lane, Aughton, Rotherham, at 8.40pm. Upon arrival they found a Ford Fiesta, which appeared to have been abandoned, well alight. This was dealt with by 9.37pm and is thought to have been started deliberately.

Saturday 23 October

Firefighters from Parkway, Birley Moor and Lowedges were called Marsh Walk, Park Hill, Sheffield, at 2.43am. Upon arrival they discovered a smoke alarm sounding within a flat. Crews woke the occupier and gained entry to the property, where they found a chip pan had been left on a hob. This caused light smoke logging within the flat but didn’t develop into a significant fire. Crews left the scene at 3.41am.

Firefighters from Edlington, Adwick and Dearne were called to Pagnell Avenue, Thurnscoe, Barnsley, at 8.11am. Upon arrival they found a wheelie bin on fire in front of a garage. The fire from the bin had begun to spread to the garage and a neighbouring fence. Crews stopped the spread and limited the damage, with the incident being dealt with by 8.51am. It is thought this fire started when the occupier threw a cigarette, thought to be extinguished, into the bin.

Firefighters were called to Lowedges Road, Sheffield, at 11.46am. Upon arrival they found a faulty washing machine that had started to set alight. This machine had been turned off before the fire could take hold but it is understood that it was making strange noises prior to use. Crews advised the occupier not to use the machine again and left the scene at around 12.22pm.

Sunday 24 October

Firefighters from Parkway were called to Beaumont Close, Sheffield, at 3.28am. Upon arrival they found a Renault Clio well alight. This was dealt with by 4.57am and is thought to have been started deliberately.

Firefighters from Maltby and Edlington were called to Apy Hill Lane, Tickhill, at 2.47pm, due to reports of heavy smoke in the area. Upon arrival they found a fire involving a petrol go kart and some tyres. This fire was starting to spread up the side of an industrial unit. This was dealt with by 6.36pm and is thought to have been started deliberately.
