Weekend incidents 7/9 July 2023

Friday 7 July

Thorne firefighters were called out to a deliberate fire involving cut corn in a field at 9pm on North Ings Road, Hatfield, Doncaster. The crew left the scene at 9:40pm.

A car was deliberately set on fire at 9:20pm on Cromwell Mount, Ward Green, Barnsley. Firefighters from Barnsley station attended the incident. They left at 10pm.

Saturday 8 July

Firefighters from Elm Lane station attended a deliberate car fire at 2:30am on Morgan Avenue, Sheffield. The crew came away at 3am.

Parkway firefighters were called out to an accidental fire involving a shed and fencing at 2:45am on Maple Grove, Handsworth, Sheffield. The crew left the scene at 3:25am.

Two fire crews from Maltby and Rotherham stations attended a garage fire at 10:40am on Green Lane, Wickersley, Rotherham. The fire is believed to have started accidentally.  Crews left the scene at 11:35am.

Firefighters from Rotherham, Maltby and Dearne stations were called out to a flat at 1:10pm on Bethel Road, Eastwood, Rotherham. The fire was accidental due to cooking. One man was rescued from the flat and left in the care of paramedics. The crews left the scene at 2:30pm.

Fire crews from Birley, Lowedges, Rivelin, Parkway and Central stations attended a premise on East Bank Road, Sheffield at 9:25pm. This accidental fire was due to a lightning strike. Luckily there were no casualties. The roof was on fire when crews arrived. Firefighters left the scene at 12:40am.

Sunday 9 July

Three fire crews from Thorne and Doncaster stations attended a premise fire at 5:40pm on Kirton Lane, Thorne, Doncaster. The accidental fire is believed to have started at an extractor fan. Firefighters left the scene at 6:45pm.
