Saturday 9 January

Firefighters from Elm Lane, Central and Rivelin were called to a property on Wadsley Lane, Sheffield, at 0.08am. Upon arrival they found a fire within a cooker and a smoke logged kitchen. Nobody was injured, owing to quick actions by the occupier to evacuate their family, and the fire was dealt with by 0.56am.

Firefighters from Central and Birley Moor were called to Leighton Road, Sheffield, at 12.13pm. Upon arrival they found there had been a two car, head on collision. One woman was trapped in a car by her injuries. Crews removed the roof of the car and extricated the casualty with a longboard, before handing her over to the ambulance service. This was dealt with by 1.37pm.

Firefighters from Maltby and Rotherham were called to Gerard Road, Wellgate, at 6.58pm. Upon arrival they found there had been a two car collision. One man was trapped by his injuries. Crews worked with the ambulance service and used a ‘tunnelling’ technique (where the drivers seat is fully reclined and the back seats are removed to create an escape route) before extricating the casualty on a long board. This was dealt with by 8.32pm.
