Flat fire in Sheffield

Fire crews have been at a flat fire this morning on Firshill Close in Sheffield.

Three crews from Elm Lane, Central and Rotherham stations were called at 5:40am.

On arrival a first floor flat was well alight.  There was no one inside the flat, however, the occupant in the flat above was trapped due to smoke.  Firefighters wearing breathing apparatus went up to the second floor and led the occupant down the stairs to safety.

Firefighters worked hard using two hose reels to put the fire out.

The investigation into the cause of the fire is ongoing, however, it is believed to be accidental.
