Onion rings spark Sheffield kitchen blaze

A man was treated for smoke inhalation yesterday (Sunday 15 September) after a kitchen fire at his house on Burnaby Court, Sheffield.

The blaze, that left the property uninhabitable, started when the occupant fell asleep on the sofa whilst cooking some onion rings.

Firefighters from Central and Rivelin were called to the blaze at 3.49am. Breathing apparatus wearers entered the house to tackle the fire, before clearing the smoke that had filled the entire house.

The incident was dealt with by 5am and the occupier was taken care of by colleagues from Yorkshire Ambulance Service.
