Chimney warning after near miss

With the autumnal feel in the air, South Yorkshire householders are being urged to get their chimneys swept after a near miss in Sheffield on Saturday evening.

Firefighters from Rivelin station were called to a chimney fire on Aldene Road, Wadsley, and used a bucket of water to put the fire out.

But with the nights drawing in, anyone with an open or solid fuel fire should consider booking their annual check to help ensure they don’t suffer a chimney fire.

Our colleagues at Kent Fire & Rescue last week posted this short video on YouTube, highlighting key safety measures to prevent a fire for anyone with an open or solid fuel fire.
