On Saturday at 1:51pm firefighters from Edlington and Doncaster attended a kitchen fire on Beech Road in New Rossington.
A pan had been left unattended on the hob whilst the occupants were out causing a small fire. Upon arrival, the house was heavily smoke logged.
Firefighters wearing breathing apparatus extinguished the fire using a hose reel and ensured the property was well ventilated.
Fire crews left the incident at 2:16pm
Top tips for avoiding kitchen fires:
- Oven gloves, tea towels, cardboard and electric leads are well away from the hob
- Ovens and grill pans should be free from grease and crumbs, as these can easily catch fire
- Don’t leave cooking unattended and never use chip pans or pans filled with hot oil
