Fire crews tackle Rotherham flat fire

Firefighters were called to a block of flats at Clifton in Rotherham on Tuesday 11 July at 10:22pm. Crews from Rotherham, Maltby and Dearne attended the incident.

Firefighters wearing breathing apparatus quickly extinguished the fire, which was in the bedroom, with a hose reel.

Luckily, the flat was unoccupied at the time and the fire was quickly contained.

The fire is believed to have started accidentally with the most likely cause being a discarded cigarette.

Crews left the scene at midnight.
