Firefighters were called to a block of flats at Clifton in Rotherham on Tuesday 11 July at 10:22pm. Crews from Rotherham, Maltby and Dearne attended the incident.
Firefighters wearing breathing apparatus quickly extinguished the fire, which was in the bedroom, with a hose reel.
Luckily, the flat was unoccupied at the time and the fire was quickly contained.
The fire is believed to have started accidentally with the most likely cause being a discarded cigarette.
Crews left the scene at midnight.
