Firefighters from four different stations were called to a aluminium factory at 3.43am this morning (Tuesday 26 March) to reports of a fire inside.

Upon arrival they found a fire within a furnace had got out of control. Breathing apparatus wearers went in to tackle the blaze and had extinguished it by 4.49am.

Crews from Rotherham, Elm Lane, Dearne and Parkway attended.

It is believed the fire had started accidentally and firefighters left site at around 5am.
