Fire at waste material site in Sheffield

The fire at the waste management site on Parkwood Road, Sheffield is now under control.

Firefighters have worked hard overnight to prevent the fire spreading to nearby buildings.

Two fire engines are still at the scene and are expected to remain there for most of the morning.

 

 

28.05.2020- 11.30pm

Six fire engines have been called out to a large fire at a waste management site in Sheffield at 9:50pm on Thursday evening on Parkwood Road.

Firefighters from Parkway, Central, Elm Lane, Tankersley, Aston Park and Barnsley stations are at the incident at Arthurs Skip Hire & Waste Management.

Several piles of waste are on fire. Firefighters are using hose reels to tackle the blaze.

There is a lot of smoke in the area so residents are advised to keep their doors and windows closed until the smoke has cleared.

Firefighters are expected to remain at the scene for several hours.

An investigation into the cause of the fire will take place once it is completely out.
