Firefighters have attended two kitchen fires overnight both of which were cooking related.
Doncaster and Edlington fire crews were first called to a fire in a bungalow on Sheridan Road in Balby at 8:20pm. The occupant was already out of the premise when crews arrived. The fire was believed to have started at the grill.
The second incident was at 2:40am on Tuesday morning at Middleham Road, Cantley. This was a flat fire and again was due to cooking. Luckily there were no casualties at the incident.
Firefighters are now issuing the following safety advice around cooking.
- Clean out ovens and grill pans regularly to avoid a build up of fat and grease
- Ditch old fashioned chip pans, use oven chips or thermostat controlled fryers instead
- Don’t attempt to cook if you’ve been out drinking, buy a takeaway instead
