Fire pit ash ignites bin outside house

Fire pit owners have been issued a stark warning after garden ash ignited a bin in Doncaster.

Firefighters were called to a house on Springwood Close, Branton at around 4.30am on Monday (20 November).

It’s thought that ash from a fire pit was tipped into a wheelie bin, causing it to go up in flames.

Luckily, no one was hurt in the incident.

On call firefighters from Rossington fire station dealt with the blaze.

Ash from barbecues and fire pits should be carefully disposed of and only placed into bins once it has properly cooled.
