Firefighters tackle blaze at disused nightclub in Sheffield

Around 40 firefighters tackled a blaze in a disused Sheffield nightclub over the weekend.

Crews were called to Embrace, on Burgess Street in the city centre, at 1.20am on Sunday 12 April.

Upon arrival they found the club was smoke logged, with breathing apparatus wearers being sent in to locate and fully extinguish the fire.

The crews worked through the night to get the fire under control and, at its height, there were 8 fire engines, a command support unit, a welfare unit and turntable ladder all in attendance.

There were no injuries and a full search of the building deemed that nobody was inside at the time of fire.

A fire investigation into the cause of the fire is now underway. This is expected to be completed later this week.
